Today is the second day and our last day at the Tokyo Game
Show 2017. Many of the activities we will do today include going around the
Playstation booth and trying out one of the high-hooded, Zone of Enders VR
games. Together, we also tested several other games that will be released for
Plasytation VR, including one that is quite anticipated - Stifled, a survival
horror game that offers a unique approach to gameplay.
Stifled
Stifled is a VR horror game owned by Gattai Games based in
Singapore. With a very unique concept, Stifled managed to amaze so many people
that Sony American and Europe decided to publish Stifled in the West.
Stifled tells the story of someone named Dave. Dave is
someone who can only "see" with echolocation like a bat. Due to
echolocation, the sound becomes a two-sided sword, in addition to being the
only way we can survive, the sound can also backfire because the enemy can
detect our existence.
This game utilizes PSVR technology well, especially in the
use of PSVR microphone. Since this game is "run" by sound, then
Gattai Games also injects algorithms that can detect if there is a fear in our
voice and translate it into the game. Armed with a 5 hour long storyline, we
ourselves can not wait to taste Stifled.
Kill-X
VR is proven to be one tool to realize the vision of a
producer and director of a game. With the first person action shooter genre, it
is not wrong when Vivagames as developer of Kill-X decided to use VR as a tool
to create a better playing experience. Kun Yao, producer of Kill-X, says Kill-X
is not just a game where you have to shoot and kill enemies. To complete a
mission and open up new stories, players are also required to explore and
resolve puzzles scattered across the mysterious islands that are the setting of
Kill-X.
Kun Yao said that the shooting and moving mechanism in
Kill-X is one of the main selling points of this game. With the ability to
customize whether to use a one-handed weapon, or two hands, Kill-X also does
not forget the interaction with the environment.
For those of you who can not wait to taste Kill-X seems to
be patient because Kill-X is still in the testing stage and has not had a
definite release date.
FF XV: Monsters of
the Deep
Fishing is one of the best parts of FF XV. Exploring the
beautiful swamps and waters of Eos to get the biggest fish is one of those
activities that is time-consuming and stress-free. Square Enix tries to capture
this animo and creates a special PSVR DLC that focuses on this fishing
activity.
Not only move the view from 3rd Person to 1st Person VR,
Square Enix (SE) also adds mechanical where you will control the rod that you
will use directly with your PS Move. Your right hand will be used to throw the
hook, and the left hand will be positioned to rotate the reel. A well-designed
fishing experience combined with a beautifully built world will surely make you
feel at home for a long time fishing in FF XV: Monsters of the Deep.
Zone of the Enders:
2nd Runner MARS
Konami's decision to meremake Zone of Enders (ZoE) is
one step that can be said quite smart. With ZoE's fan base that's been waiting
for the most recent ZoE iteration, ZoE Remastered is instantly an issue that
continues to be debated during TGS. The queue to try ZoE in TGS also shows that
ZoE fans are welcoming Konami's idea of this one. VR mode injected into ZoE
is also successfully offering something different in it.
We are very lucky to get a chance to try ZoE in TGS in VR
mode. Nostalgia is quite toned we already feel when the initial cutscene appears,
but the fun begins when the cutscene ends and we are already in the cockpit of
Jehuty is very well designed. The transition from 3rd person to 1st Person VR
is aided by HUD and information on the right and left of our screen. We have to
get used to a new control mechanism because this change makes things different.
Given this is still a very early "demo", Cygames and Konami will
certainly continue to polish the user experience of this VR mode.
Unfortunately, we are not allowed to take pictures or videos with it.
