What is Hideaki Itsuno doing right now? The brains behind many of Capcom's giant franchises have confirmed that he is working on a new project that unfortunately, he still can not announce to the public at this time. The biggest speculation of course leads to Devil May Cry 5 which seems to be the most rational option, especially considering the commitment of Capcom to start working on their franchise that seems, forgotten. However, waiting for the wait in the big event, from E3, Gamescom, Paris Games Week, to TGS 2017 did not provide any details related to Itsuno's latest project. Until a new rumor spreads.
Coming from the forum Resetera, "fraction" NeoGaf formed after the case of sexual harassment of the owner some time ago, a user who claims himself as a "insider" Capcom opened some information related to this latest series Devil May Cry. Unfortunately, there is no official verification of whether the information submitted is true, or supported by strong evidence. One is certain, what is submitted by the user named "Son of Sparda" is quite in line with some leak that had spread in other forums as well, such as Reddit.
Release and Production
He will carry the name "Devil May Cry V" (DMCV), as Kojima applied in Metal Gear Solid.
This game is planned to be released in fiscal year 2019 (April 2018 - March 2018). The original plan will be released in November 2018, but may be pushed back to early 2019.
Game in may not be shown in 2017. Devil May Cry V itself was planned to be shown in the Playstation Experience 2017, but pushed Sony into next year, to "enliven" E3 2018.
There will be a demo before the release.
Game has been developed for 2 years, and will enter 3 years at the time of release. This became the oldest "Devil May Cry" game developed, with production processes so far running smoothly.
There will be "Exclusive" cooperation with Sony and Playstation 4, but not yet known. It's unclear whether this will be a full exclusive, exclusive, or exclusive "console" game that keeps it unreleased on the PC. One is for sure, the first announcement of this game will be performed on Sony's stage.
The trailer is actually ready and duration of about 1 minute 50 seconds. This trailer focuses more on story, character and cut-scene. You can also see a city that is not much different from Fortuna City in DMC4.
This will be the Devil May Cry game with the longest cut-scene
Developer Team
Itsuno team who worked in previous DMC games and also Dragon's Dogma work full for this DMCV.
Yuji Shimomura handles cut-scenes. He used to handle cut-scenes for DMC3, DMC4, and Bayonetta.
Rueben Langdon returns as Dante
Johnny Young Bosch returns as Nero
And Southworth returns as Vergil
No information about voice actress for Trish or Lady
Onyay Pheori will handle the soundtrack. He had worked in the launch trailer DMC4 Special Edition before.
Stories and Characters
Devil May Cry V will be a sequel after Devil May Cry 4
There will be 3 playable characters in this game. You will play Dante, Nero, and a mysterious character who is said to be super powerful. Speculation says that this third character is Vergil.
This would be the most "serious" Dante ever. There will be jokes here and there, but the story will tie Dante to a more personal level.
Trish reportedly will play a very important role in the story of Devil May Cry V, but there is no confirmation whether he can be played or not.
There will be a scene of confrontation between Vergil and Nero (with speculation that Nero is Vergil's son).
Characters change according to story, not free.
You will fight with an antagonist who calls himself "Prince of Darkness".
The DMCV is set to be the end of Son of Sparda's story.
Gameplay / System
Hard lock = standard
Console version pursued 60fps
Level design is now more open than DMC series so far, but will not open like serie Souls.
Level design and exploration follow the Bayonetta style, but no QTE system exists.
There is no stamina bar.
This is not a musou game. But at one point you will be faced with so many enemies at once.
The dodge system is now redesigned to make it smoother.
There is content multiplayer integration, but no PvP.
The camera system is now dynamic. The camera will automatically pull away while fighting.
Animation now feels much more subtle as well. The emphasis is on clothes physics, Dante's sword blade is now even impossible to penetrate. The battle looks beautiful and smooth.
System Mission / Ranking back.
Boss is now also offered in significant portions. One battle will even ask you to move a lot of places.
System Style returns for Dante. The enemy will act differently depending on the style you use.
Style system is also simplified to make the gaming experience more smoothly.
Some styles will be more effective for use on some enemy types.
The environment now has a better level of interactivity, some of which can be crushed.
Although the concept is not an open-world game, Capcom will take a lot of inspiration from Dragon's Dogma.
All the rumors discussed are of course increasingly making us wait for the official announcement of Capcom related Devil May Cry V. But remember, this is all still a rumor until Capcom do two things: release the inaugural trailer to be proof that the above statement is true or announced Devil May Cry V officially while providing detail. For now, there is nothing we can do but wait while critically responding to this information.
