MMR is just a number. How often do DOTA 2 gamers hear this one expression? In fact, this figure ends up being the reward they strive for after passing through each exhausting battle in DotA 2. For those of you who are not too familiar, MMR is a number formulated to represent the skill player DOTA 2 with the addition that will happen every time the victory is achieved. He is always a target to be pursued, with professional players usually dwell in at least MMR 7,000 - 10,000. But who would have thought that Valve and IceFrog were crazy enough to get rid of a system that could be spelled out, became the arena of this DotA 2 competitive sensation. They replace it into something more "common".
Promising it some time ago, Valve has finally implemented a new System for DOTA 2. Calling it the "Seasonal Guide", a system similar to that applied by Overwatch will be rotated every six months. During that period, DOTA 2 gamers can catch up to one of 7 Rank Medals available: Herald, Guardian, Crusader, Archon, Legend, Ancient, and Divine. Not only that, playing the game in Solo or Team will now affect your Rank Medal progress, although the contribution of Solo will be calculated more significantly.
Valve also decided not to make your "old" MMR automatically converted to Rank Medal in this update. As if giving a fresh start, you have to do a calibration game at least 10 times to find out where you are in this latest system. How about you? Do you prefer MMR system or Rank Medal system like this?
